Manchester City Nears Deal for Antoine Semenyo
Manchester City is nearing an agreement with Bournemouth to sign Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo for £65 million.
The negotiations, which have progressed significantly over the past 48 hours, focus on finalizing the details of the deal.
City has confirmed its willingness to meet Semenyo's £65 million release clause, with the player’s representatives having been in Manchester on Monday to finalize personal terms.
Discussions continued on Tuesday, with sources suggesting that a total agreement is imminent, as the January transfer window is set to open on Thursday.
Semenyo, who is expected to start for Bournemouth in their match against Chelsea on Tuesday, hopes to have his future resolved by January 1. However, it remains uncertain if Bournemouth will allow him to play against Arsenal on January 3.
Sources have informed BBC Sport that Bournemouth desires for Semenyo to participate in the match against Arsenal and then face Tottenham on January 7, before the release clause in his contract expires on January 10.
While Liverpool has expressed interest in Semenyo, reports indicate that unless the Premier League champions make a last-minute offer, he is on track to join City.
Despite interest from five clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham, City remains the only club to have made formal contact with Bournemouth regarding the transfer.
