Max Dowman Becomes Youngest Player in Champions League History
Arsenal's Max Dowman has made history as the youngest player ever to participate in the UEFA Champions League, coming on as a substitute during the Gunners' 3-0 victory over Slavia Prague on Tuesday.
Previously, the record was held by former Borussia Dortmund forward Youssoufa Moukoko.
At just 15 years old, Dowman was included in Arsenal's Champions League squad for this season, although he did not play in the first three matches of the group stage.
Moukoko set the previous record at 16 years and 18 days during a 2-1 away win for Dortmund against Zenit St Petersburg in December 2020.
Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal currently ranks as the third-youngest player to appear in the competition, debuting at 16 years and 68 days, while other notable players like Celestine Babayaro, Rayan Cherki, Alen Halilovic, and Youri Tielemans also made their Champions League debuts at the age of 16.
