The first team at Morecambe FC has halted all football operations due to ongoing uncertainties surrounding the club's future.
The Shrimps were suspended by the National League until August 20, following a breach of the league's regulations.
Panjab Warriors, a sports investment firm based in London, has been in negotiations with the club's owner, Jason Whittingham, for over a year. They have issued a statement expressing their readiness and willingness to take over the club.
However, the company has confirmed that the acquisition has not yet been completed and has urged the current owners to finalize the sale.
A joint statement from Panjab Warriors, minority shareholders, the Shrimps Trust, and local MP Lizzi Collinge revealed: "The first team has had to cease all football operations because the necessary insurance has lapsed due to non-payment."
"As this situation worsens, more first-team players have left the club, with additional departures expected by the end of the week."
