Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Sacked by Besiktas
Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been dismissed by Turkish club Besiktas.
The 52-year-old took over the management of the Istanbul club in January and led them to a fourth-place finish in the previous season.
However, following a defeat to Swiss side Lausanne in the Conference League play-offs on Thursday, which resulted in the club missing out on European football this season, Besiktas decided to terminate his contract.
The club announced, "Our contract with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been terminated following a decision made at a board meeting. After the meeting, our chairman, Serdal Adalı, expressed gratitude to Solskjaer for his contributions thus far."
Previously, Besiktas had been eliminated from the Europa League qualifiers by Shakhtar Donetsk.
Former Borussia Dortmund player and manager Nuri Sahin has been mentioned as a potential candidate for the managerial position.
