Prince of Wales Sends Best Wishes to Truro City Ahead of National League Season
The Prince of Wales has reached out to Truro City captain Connor Riley-Lowe, extending his best wishes as the club embarks on its inaugural season in the National League.
Prince William, who also holds the title of Duke of Cornwall, has sent this message as Truro City transitions into a fully professional football club for the first time.
The club achieved promotion last April during their first season back in Cornwall, after spending nearly four years away while awaiting the construction of a new stadium in Truro.
In a letter from his private secretary, it was noted, "The Duke understands that you have just returned home after a few years away, and like everyone else in Cornwall, he will be cheering you on."
As a passionate football fan and avid supporter of Aston Villa, Prince William also serves as the president of the Football Association. Recently, he was part of the delegation that presented England with the Euro 2025 trophy, having watched the final against Spain in Switzerland alongside Princess Charlotte.
In the letter, Prince William conveyed his warmest congratulations on Truro City's promotion to the National League, marking them as Cornwall's first professional team. He added, "This comes with the Duke of Cornwall's very best wishes. Good luck to The Tinners."
Truro City will kick off their season with an away match against Wealdstone on Saturday, followed by their first home league game a week later against York City. They are the first team from Cornwall to reach the fifth tier of English football and the fourth club from the county to become fully professional.
