PSG Faces Injury Setbacks Ahead of Champions League Defense
European champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will be without Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue until October due to injuries sustained during France's World Cup qualifying victory over Ukraine.
Dembele is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks due to a "serious" hamstring injury, while Doue will be out for around four weeks, according to the club's statements.
During the match, Dembele came on for the injured Doue at half-time of the 2-0 win on Friday, only to be substituted himself in the 81st minute.
PSG will begin their Champions League title defense at home against Atalanta on September 17, before traveling to Spain to face last season's semi-finalists, Barcelona, on October 1.
Both players were instrumental in PSG's treble-winning season, which included triumphs in Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the Champions League. Doue notably scored and was named man of the match in their 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the European final.
They were subsequently included in UEFA's team of the tournament.
Dembele is also a frontrunner for the Ballon d'Or, with the awards ceremony scheduled for September 21.
PSG has had a strong start to their league season, winning all three of their opening matches and currently sitting at the top of the table. Their next match is against Lens following the international break.
