Richarlison Shines in Tottenham's Winning Start Under Thomas Frank
A convincing three-goal victory in their opening match against Burnley marked an impressive start to Thomas Frank's tenure as Tottenham's manager, though one aspect left him somewhat disappointed.
The beauty of Spurs' second goal, scored by Richarlison with a sensational scissor kick from Mohammed Kudus' cross following a brilliant passing move, led Frank to fear that nothing could surpass it this season.
"For the second goal, we had 17 passes, with every player touching the ball before an exceptional finish. I'm a bit disappointed that we've possibly seen the goal of the season so early," Frank joked.
There was much to celebrate as Spurs and Richarlison showcased excellent form in Frank's first home game after taking over from the sacked Ange Postecoglou, who was dismissed just 16 days after leading the club to Europa League success.
Tottenham scored their first league goal of the season within 10 minutes, with Richarlison finding the net after a well-executed play involving Kudus, who has made a promising start following his £55 million transfer from West Ham.

He was impressive against PSG in the midweek Super Cup and again today with his work rate and link-up play," Frank noted.
Former Premier League record goalscorer Alan Shearer applauded Richarlison's performance, calling his second goal a "phenomenal finish" and highlighting the quality of Kudus' assist.
Ex-England striker Dion Dublin echoed the praise, suggesting that Richarlison possesses the qualities needed to succeed, but requires careful management both on and off the field. "He needs encouragement and reassurance that he is a key player," Dublin remarked.
Silencing the Critics and Protesters
Despite Tottenham's 2024-25 season concluding with their first trophy in 17 years and their first European silverware since 1984, their poor league performance left them in 17th place, the club's worst standing since the late 1980s.
While fan protests were common last season, a planned demonstration this weekend saw only a handful of supporters outside the stadium holding a banner criticizing chairman Daniel Levy, which read: "Built a business, killed a football club."
Some fans have expressed dissatisfaction with the club's transfer activity, with Kudus and midfielder Joao Palhinha, who joined on loan from Bayern Munich, being the only significant signings. Meanwhile, popular club captain Son Heung-min was sold to Los Angeles FC for £18 million, and Spurs missed out on signing Morgan Gibbs-White, who opted to renew his contract with Nottingham Forest.
However, the club is reportedly progressing in negotiations to sign Crystal Palace and England forward Eberechi Eze, with talks expected to advance in the next 48 hours, while Manchester City winger Savinho remains on their radar.
The best way for Tottenham and Frank to quell fan protests is through their performances. This victory, along with their competitive display against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup, where they narrowly lost on penalties, signals a promising start.
Under Frank, Tottenham has maintained an entertaining style of play while showing signs of improved defensive stability compared to the previous management.
