Sheffield United Manager Chris Wilder Charged with Improper Conduct
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association.
The 58-year-old was dismissed following the half-time whistle during a home match against Southampton, where he inadvertently kicked the ball into the stands, striking a fan.
Wilder has expressed his intention to appeal any suspension resulting from this incident, as he stated on BBC Radio Sheffield.
He has until Wednesday, October 8, to respond to the charge.
In his remarks last week, Wilder commented, "If I had confronted the referee at half-time and made a scene, or if I had kicked the ball directly at him or the fourth official, I would expect to face the appropriate consequences and would not appeal. However, I will appeal because, as you can see, I simply knocked the ball back, albeit with some force. It ended up going straight into the stands, and I apologized to the fan involved, but then I was shown a red card."
Currently, Sheffield United sits at the bottom of the Championship table, having lost eight out of their first nine league matches.
