Sheffield Wednesday Fans Protest Against Owner During Championship Match
Saturday's Championship match between Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry City was temporarily halted when a small group of home fans invaded the pitch to protest against club owner Dejphon Chansiri.
In the 10th minute of the match, Owls supporters united to chant against the Thai businessman, following the late payment of wages for the fifth time in seven months.
Several fans made their way onto the field and gathered in the center circle, prompting referee Adam Herczeg to take both teams to the sidelines.
The game was paused for approximately five minutes while stewards escorted the protesting fans off the pitch.
Rob Staton, a reporter for BBC Radio Sheffield, noted, "There were some boos from the crowd, but mostly cheers as they chanted for Chansiri to leave the club. It was a peaceful protest, and even Coventry supporters joined in with cheers."
