Son Heung-min and Thomas Muller Score First MLS Goals
Former Tottenham captain Son Heung-min and ex-Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller both achieved their first Major League Soccer goals on Saturday.
South Korean star Son, 33, scored a spectacular free-kick just six minutes into his second start for Los Angeles FC, which ended in a 1-1 draw with FC Dallas.
This match marked Son's third appearance since his record-breaking transfer to MLS for over £20 million, concluding a decade-long tenure in the Premier League.
"I’m glad I scored my first goal in the MLS and for LAFC. However, the most important thing for me is to secure three points. I’m really, really disappointed about that," Son expressed.
He added, "I still need a lot of time to connect with the team. It’s been only two weeks—maybe a little bit more—but I’m enjoying every single moment."
Meanwhile, German international Muller, 35, netted a penalty in the 14th minute of stoppage time, sealing a dramatic 3-2 victory for Vancouver Whitecaps against St. Louis City.
Muller, whose 25-year association with Bayern Munich concluded with the expiration of his contract this summer, captained his new team in his first start after coming on as a substitute last week.
"Scoring the final goal in front of our crowd was an amazing feeling," Muller remarked.
