Thomas Frank Faces Pressure Amid Tottenham's Struggles
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank expressed that he feels the support of the club's hierarchy despite a challenging season so far.
According to BBC Sport, Frank is under considerable scrutiny as the club contemplates the future of his seven-month tenure.
While Spurs have publicly backed Frank amidst their struggles, Saturday's home defeat to West Ham has intensified the pressure on the Danish manager.
On Monday, Frank had lunch with chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and board members Nick Beucher and Johan Lange, describing the meeting as "all good."
"We had a constructive conversation about life, football, and the club's future," Frank stated at a news conference before Tuesday's Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund. "It’s a positive sign, as typically people avoid discussions during tough times. They usually don’t come in for friendly lunches when bad news looms."
However, at least one member of the club's executive team has recently suggested the possibility of ending Frank's tenure.
Currently, Spurs sit 14th in the Premier League, having secured only seven victories from 22 matches this season, leading many supporters to lose faith in the former Brentford manager. During the weekend match, he faced chants of "you’re getting sacked in the morning" from his own fans, but Frank remains optimistic about regaining their trust.
"If we can start winning matches, the support will return," he remarked. "This is not about me; it's about backing the team and the players."
Frank also noted that he has only 11 outfield players from the usual first-team squad available for the upcoming match against Dortmund. "We need support from the very beginning. Especially for the team and the players. With that support, anything is possible. Magic can happen," he added.
Tottenham currently ranks 11th in the Champions League, and securing a victory against Dortmund is crucial for their chances of automatic qualification for the knockout stages.
