West Ham Signs Goalkeeper Mads Hermansen from Leicester City
West Ham United has signed goalkeeper Mads Hermansen from Leicester City for approximately £20 million.
The Denmark international has agreed to a five-year contract with the Hammers, which includes a one-year extension option. The deal was finalized on Thursday after several weeks of negotiations between the two clubs.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper had a standout season with Leicester, despite the team's relegation from the Premier League.
West Ham was in search of a new goalkeeper following the departure of Poland's Lukasz Fabianski at the end of the previous season. Hermansen will compete for the starting position with Alphonse Areola, who made 26 Premier League appearances in the 2024-25 season.
Casper Ankergren, who previously worked with Hermansen at Brøndby, is now West Ham's goalkeeping coach under manager Graham Potter.
During his time at Leicester, Hermansen made 72 appearances and was part of the squad that won the Championship title in 2024.
He follows fellow teammate Wilfred Ndidi in leaving the Foxes, as Ndidi joined Turkish side Beşiktaş on Friday after spending over eight years at the King Power Stadium. Ndidi had a relegation release clause set at £9 million.
