West Ham Signs Striker Valentin Castellanos on Long-Term Contract
West Ham United has secured the signing of Lazio striker Valentin 'Taty' Castellanos for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the option for an additional year.
Castellanos joined Lazio in 2023, where he made 98 appearances, scoring 22 goals and providing 16 assists. He has also represented Argentina at the international level, earning two caps since his debut in 2024. Before joining Lazio, Castellanos played for New York City FC and Girona.
West Ham's head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, identified Castellanos as a key target for the club. In a statement, Castellanos expressed his commitment, stating he will "give everything" to contribute to the team.
"Every match is a battle, and I’m here to contribute that, to try to bring that energy, that fighting spirit I have inside, so that every match is as important and as tough as possible," he said.
Castellanos is the second signing for West Ham during the January transfer window, following the acquisition of Brazilian striker Pablo Felipe from Portuguese club Gil Vicente for a reported fee of €25 million (£22 million).
Currently, West Ham sits in 18th place in the Premier League, just four points above the relegation zone. They are set to face Nottingham Forest, who are in 17th place, on Tuesday.
