William Saliba Signs New Five-Year Contract with Arsenal
Arsenal defender William Saliba has signed a new five-year contract with the club.
The French international, who has two years remaining on his current deal, is expected to finalize the agreement in the coming days, extending his contract until 2030.
Saliba, 24, joined Arsenal from Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne in July 2019. He was loaned back to Saint-Etienne for the 2019-20 season and subsequently had loan spells at Nice and Marseille.
Since making his debut in August 2022, he has become a vital part of manager Mikel Arteta's defense, making a total of 137 appearances for the club.
Saliba's previous contract was set to expire in June 2027, and his outstanding performances had attracted interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
His commitment to Arsenal is a significant boost for Arteta's ambitions in both the Premier League and Champions League, especially following the recent long-term agreement signed by his defensive partner Gabriel Magalhaes until 2029.
Arsenal is set to face Newcastle at St James' Park in their next Premier League match on Sunday.
