Wolves to Approach Middlesbrough for Rob Edwards as Head Coach
Wolverhampton Wanderers is preparing to formally approach Middlesbrough regarding the appointment of Rob Edwards as their new head coach.
According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, Edwards has emerged as one of the leading candidates to succeed Vitor Pereira, who was dismissed following a winless start to the Premier League season.
The club previously engaged in discussions with former manager Gary O'Neil; however, the 42-year-old opted to withdraw from consideration on Monday.
Edwards has consistently been a strong contender for the role at Molineux and is now viewed as the club's preferred choice.
Reports indicate that the relegation-threatened Wolves are preparing to make an official inquiry to Middlesbrough, who currently sit third in the Championship.
Wolves find themselves at the bottom of the Premier League table, having accumulated only two points from 10 matches, leaving them eight points adrift of 17th-placed Burnley.
It is believed that Wolves will need to pay a substantial compensation fee to Middlesbrough to secure Edwards, who previously played for the Midlands club from 2004 to 2008.
