Wrexham has made a bold move by approaching Christian Eriksen, marking the club's most ambitious effort under the ownership of Hollywood figures Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
The 33-year-old midfielder is currently unattached after his contract with Manchester United concluded at the end of the 2024-25 season.
Wrexham is eager to leverage the experience of the 144-cap Danish international as they gear up for their return to the second tier of English football, a milestone not achieved in 44 years.
Eriksen's agent, Martin Schoots, expressed to the Daily Mail that Wrexham represents a "hugely impressive project." However, he added, "Christian still desires to compete in a top-tier league and is committed to remaining in Western Europe."
Under the leadership of Phil Parkinson, Wrexham has achieved three consecutive promotions and is now poised for their inaugural season in the second tier since the 1981-82 campaign.
The club has already strengthened its squad by signing Wales goalkeeper Danny Ward, striker Ryan Hardie, midfielders Lewis O'Brien and George Thomason, left-back Liberato Cacace, and attacking midfielder Josh Windass since securing promotion to the Championship.
Securing Eriksen would be a significant coup, should Parkinson succeed in persuading him to join the Championship.
Last season, Eriksen made 35 appearances across all competitions for Manchester United, scoring five goals, and is now a free agent.
He began his professional journey at Ajax, spent seven seasons at Tottenham Hotspur, and joined Brentford in 2022 following a stint at Inter Milan.
During his tenure at Old Trafford, Eriksen won both an FA Cup and a League Cup.
Wrexham is set to commence their 2025-26 season against newly relegated Southampton at St Mary's Stadium on Saturday, August 9.
