Alexander Isak's Future at Newcastle United Remains Uncertain
Alexander Isak is currently training alone at his former club, Real Sociedad, as uncertainty surrounds his future with Newcastle United. The Swedish striker was excluded from Newcastle's pre-season tour of Asia due to what the club described as a "minor" thigh issue.
Isak is reportedly interested in exploring opportunities away from the Magpies, with Liverpool expressing interest in acquiring the former Borussia Dortmund player. The 25-year-old joined Newcastle in 2022 in a £60 million transfer from La Liga's Real Sociedad.
According to sources at BBC Sport, Isak is utilizing the training facilities at Real Sociedad but is not participating in team sessions. Newcastle United has refrained from commenting on the situation.
Newcastle's head coach, Eddie Howe, stated earlier this week that the club has not yet received any offers for the striker. "Isak is still our player. He's contracted to us," Howe mentioned. "We have some control over his future. I hope all options remain open, and my preference is for him to stay, but that's not entirely in my hands."
Isak had a successful season last year, scoring 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions for Newcastle. Howe's team recently suffered a 1-0 defeat to a K-League XI in their third pre-season match and is set to face Tottenham at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Sunday.
