Arsenal is close to finalizing an agreement with Sporting Lisbon to acquire Swedish forward Viktor Gyokeres.
The two clubs have been in negotiations for over a week, with discussions now at an advanced stage and an agreement imminent.
Arsenal's latest offer for the 27-year-old amounts to approximately 70 million euros (£60 million), including add-ons.
Gyokeres has already agreed to personal terms on a five-year contract with the Gunners. Once the final details between the clubs are settled, the transfer formalities are expected to be swiftly completed.
BBC Sport reported earlier this month that Arsenal shifted their focus to Gyokeres after encountering difficulties in their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
Arsenal's sporting director, Andrea Berta, flew to Lisbon late last week to lead the negotiations with Sporting.
This weekend, Sporting's president, Frederico Varandas, announced that Gyokeres is facing disciplinary action for not reporting to pre-season training.
Gyokeres, who scored 54 goals in 52 games last season, has yet to publicly explain his absence from pre-season.
Varandas told the Portuguese news agency Lusa that "no one is above the interests of the club."
Formerly of Brighton and Coventry, Gyokeres has netted 97 goals in 102 matches over two seasons in Portugal, helping Sporting secure two league titles.
