Bayern Munich Manager Vincent Kompany Signs Contract Extension Until 2029
Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has signed a two-year contract extension, ensuring his stay with the German club until June 2029.
The former Manchester City star took over as head coach of Bayern in May 2024, with his initial contract set to expire in the summer of 2027.
The 39-year-old Belgian led Bayern to the Bundesliga title last season, achieving 49 victories in 67 matches across all competitions.
"I am grateful and honored, and I would like to thank Bayern for the trust and the supportive environment they have provided since day one," Kompany stated. "It feels as though I have been here much longer, and I feel a strong connection to the club. It has been a fantastic experience so far. We have embarked on a wonderful journey; let’s continue to work hard and celebrate even more successes."
Bayern began the 2025-26 season by winning the German Super Cup and currently holds a five-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.
Club president Herbert Hainer commented, "The contract extension with Vincent Kompany is a strong endorsement of the excellent work he has done thus far, as well as a clear indication of our commitment to continuity and stability at Bayern. Vincent is highly respected by players, club management, and fans alike, and we are pleased to extend our collaboration early."
Kompany rose to prominence during his illustrious playing career at Manchester City, where he captained the team, made 360 appearances, and won four Premier League titles.
He began his managerial career as a player-manager at his boyhood club Anderlecht in 2019, transitioning to a full-time role in 2020 after retiring from playing. Under his leadership, Anderlecht secured two league titles before he was appointed as Burnley manager in 2022.
In his first season at Turf Moor, Kompany led Burnley to the Championship title, but the team faced relegation from the Premier League after finishing 19th the following season.
