BBC to Broadcast Key Matches in Upcoming Men's World Cup
The BBC will air Scotland's first men's World Cup match since 1998 on June 14, when they face Haiti. The network will also broadcast Scotland's final group match against Brazil.
In addition, England's second group match against Ghana on June 23 will be shown on the BBC, along with their knockout matches in the last 32, last 16, and semi-finals, should they progress that far.
England's other Group L matches against Croatia and Panama, as well as Scotland's encounter with Morocco, will be available on ITV.
If Wales or Northern Ireland qualify through the playoffs in March, their group match against Canada on June 12 will also be broadcast on the BBC.
Two group matches for the Republic of Ireland will be aired if they succeed in the playoffs.
The BBC is set to cover three of the top four matches in the round of 16 and three of the top five matches in the round of 32.
Both the BBC and ITV will broadcast the final match of the tournament.
Defending champions Argentina will have their group matches against Austria and Jordan shown live on the BBC, which will also feature two group matches each for 2022 finalists France, five-time champions Brazil, the Netherlands, and Portugal.
"We can’t wait to bring you the FIFA Men’s World Cup," said Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport. "From (hopefully) England’s knockout games live on BBC1 and iPlayer to Scotland’s crucial matches against Haiti and Brazil, as well as high-profile games featuring Messi, Mbappe, Ronaldo, Yamal, Salah, Haaland, and more, we will deliver the drama and analysis of the moments that matter. And for those who can’t stay up late, we’ll have you covered the next morning as well."
The 2026 World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marking the first time the tournament will be held in three different nations. The opening match is scheduled for June 11, 2026, in Mexico City, with the final taking place on July 19 in New Jersey.
