Brentford's £35 million offer for Ipswich winger Omari Hutchinson has been turned down. Although the bid met Hutchinson's relegation release clause, it was not an upfront cash offer, leading to its rejection.
Despite the expiration of the clause, sources indicate that Brentford, under their new manager Keith Andrews, remain interested in securing a deal for the 21-year-old. However, there is hesitation from Brentford to meet Ipswich's valuation, prompting them to explore alternative options.
Hutchinson is considered a potential replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, who is currently a target for Manchester United. The 25-year-old Cameroon winger has not yet departed from Brentford, despite United's two offers, the second of which was valued at up to £62.5 million.
Hutchinson transferred from Chelsea for £20 million last summer after a successful loan spell at Portman Road during the 2023-24 season, where he played a pivotal role in Ipswich's promotion to the Premier League. He scored three goals in 31 league appearances last season, although Ipswich was relegated back to the Championship under Kieran McKenna's management.
Additionally, Hutchinson was instrumental in England Under-21s' victory at Euro 2025, scoring in their extra-time final win against Germany in Bratislava.
In other transfer news, Ipswich have sold striker Liam Delap to Chelsea for £30 million after he netted 12 goals last season. Brentford have bolstered their squad by signing former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson following his stint at Ajax, goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool, Antoni Milambo from Feyenoord, and making Michael Kayode's loan from Fiorentina a permanent move.
