Dundee United Secures Dramatic Comeback Victory Over St Mirren
A late penalty and a stunning finish from Craig Sibbald propelled Dundee United to a thrilling comeback victory against 10-man St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.
With just six minutes remaining in regular time, a video assistant referee (VAR) review prompted match official John Beaton to issue a red card to Alex Gogic for a late tackle on Nikolaj Moeller. Substitute Amar Fatah confidently converted the resulting penalty, giving United the lead for the first time.
The match was capped off by Sibbald, who, following a remarkable long-range goal at Ibrox last week, expertly curled in a third goal in the dying moments, elevating United to third place in the league.
St Mirren was left reeling after having dominated large portions of the match, yet they struggled to translate their possession and chances into goals.

Dundee United's rollercoaster season continues, with manager Jim Goodwin lamenting his team's inability to deliver a complete 90-minute performance. When they manage to do so, they will undoubtedly be a formidable opponent. Although their performance today was not their best, they scored two quality goals and a well-executed penalty, demonstrating the resilience of a strong team.
For St Mirren, this was a missed opportunity. Despite their hard work and determination, they failed to create significant scoring chances, with goalkeeper Kucherenko being called into action too infrequently. He did make an impressive first-half save from a powerful shot by Nlundulu, while Killian Phillips squandered a good scoring opportunity by shooting over the bar.
Despite having plenty of possession and creating numerous chances, St Mirren ended up losing 3-1. Manager Stephen Robinson has much to address, especially with league leaders Hearts visiting Paisley on Wednesday and a League Cup semi-final against Motherwell looming next weekend.
