England Squad Announcement: Myles Lewis-Skelly Omitted for World Cup Qualifier
Myles Lewis-Skelly has been excluded from the England squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Serbia in Belgrade.
In a pre-match press conference, Thomas Tuchel confirmed that all players were fit and available, resulting in the versatile Arsenal player not being selected.
There had been concerns regarding the fitness of centre-back Marc Guehi, who was substituted due to a groin issue during the recent victory over Andorra. However, Tuchel assured that Guehi is fit to participate.
Under UEFA regulations, England can name 23 players for the matchday squad. Notably, centre-back Jarell Quansah was also omitted from the squad for the game against Andorra.
Lewis-Skelly trained on Monday at St George's Park alongside the rest of the England squad and traveled to Serbia, but his omission means he will have the opportunity to rest before Arsenal's match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Although he has started three of England's four World Cup qualifiers, it is expected that either Djed Spence or Tino Livramento will take on the left-back role in his absence.
In other news, fellow Arsenal full-back Ben White is hopeful of being fit for Saturday's match against Nottingham Forest. White started the opening-day win against Manchester United but has missed the last two league matches due to a minor injury.
