England Under-17s Secure Win Amidst Racism Allegations
England Under-17s recorded a 2-1 victory in a friendly match against Venezuela, but the game was interrupted twice due to reports of racist abuse.
The match, held in Duisburg, Germany, saw players leave the pitch during the second half while the referee addressed the incidents.
Details regarding the specific player targeted by the abuse remain unclear; however, BBC Sport has learned that the alleged insults originated from one or more members of the opposing team.
England manager Liam Bramley was seen comforting his players as they exited the field.
A spokesperson for the Football Association stated, "This is being treated with the utmost seriousness, and our priority is to support our players and staff."
They added, "We are in ongoing discussions with tournament organisers and the relevant authorities about next steps."
England's goals came from Metz's Brian Madjo and Chelsea's Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, allowing the team to come from behind to secure the win.
This match was the first of three scheduled games in Duisburg ahead of their Euro 2026 qualifiers in Lithuania next month.
