Tuchel Critiques Wembley Atmosphere After England's Victory

England's head coach, Thomas Tuchel, expressed his disappointment with the lack of support from the Wembley crowd following his team's impressive 3-0 friendly victory over Wales. The hosts took control early with goals from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Bukayo Saka within the first 20 minutes. In his post-match news conference, Tuchel further elaborated, "I love English football and the support from the fans, but I felt the atmosphere did not reflect our performance on the pitch. We had fantastic support in Serbia, but after going 3-0 up within 20 minutes, I wondered why the roof wasn’t blown off the stadium. It’s not a huge issue, but I was a bit underwhelmed."

Former England defender Stephen Warnock, who was part of the BBC Radio 5 Live commentary team, shared Tuchel's concerns, emphasizing the need for home supporters to remain engaged. "We were in a booth, so we couldn't fully gauge the atmosphere, but it was noted during our commentary that the Wales fans were quite vocal. I agree with Tuchel; the performance deserved a more enthusiastic response from the crowd, and it’s disappointing he felt that way," he stated.
Warnock added that Tuchel would likely continue to have the backing of England fans. "Whether this is viewed negatively depends on individual interpretation. Fans should consider how they can contribute to the team's energy. In international football, creating a vibrant atmosphere is challenging. Perhaps more efforts could be made to organize fans into cohesive groups to enhance the atmosphere, especially during the World Cup where unity is crucial."
