Falkirk Secures First Home Win of the Season with Last-Minute Goal
Back-up center-back Connor Allan scored a spectacular 90th-minute goal in his first start for Falkirk, completing a remarkable turnaround against Dundee and securing his team's first home victory in the Scottish Premiership this season.
Allan, a former Rangers youth player, was called into action due to a series of injuries affecting John McGlynn's defense, and he delivered the crucial moment of the match.
He surged forward from near the halfway line into the box, skillfully maneuvered past a defender, and delicately rolled the ball with his studs before placing it with the outside of his boot into the far corner of the net.
This stunning goal sent the home crowd into a frenzy, celebrating Falkirk's first top-flight home win since 2010 after a dramatic shift in momentum following halftime.
Dundee initially took the lead when Clark Robertson headed in from a corner, replicating his performance from the club's first victory over Celtic in 24 years last Sunday. However, Steven Pressley’s side was unable to capitalize on this early advantage.
The tide turned early in the second half when Dundee goalkeeper Jon McCracken made a poor pass, leading to Calvin Miller striking the bar.
From that point, Falkirk appeared revitalized, and the equalizer seemed imminent when, in the 55th minute, a ball played to the back post was inadvertently deflected into his own net by Robertson.
Falkirk continued to press, with Ross MacIver hitting the bar and McCracken denying efforts from Miller and Dylan Tait before Allan's unexpected brilliance clinched the victory, propelling Falkirk up to fourth place in the league.
Dundee, now in 10th place, will lament their second-half performance and a controversial decision that went against them. While leading 1-0, Ethan Hamilton appeared to be fouled by Kyrell Wilson in the box after winning the ball. However, the referee awarded a free kick to Falkirk and booked Hamilton instead.
If video assistant referee Andrew Dallas had ruled differently, Dundee could have been awarded a penalty and potentially had a man advantage for the remainder of the match. Instead, they faced their fifth defeat of the season.
