Joao Cancelo Returns to Barcelona on Loan from Al-Hilal
Former Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo is set to return to Barcelona on loan from Al-Hilal until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old successfully passed a medical examination at Barcelona on Monday and is expected to be officially announced as a new signing on Tuesday.
Cancelo previously spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Barcelona from Manchester City, after a six-month stint with German club Bayern Munich.
During his first spell with Barcelona, he made 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing five assists.
Following that season, he made a permanent move to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League for £21.2 million, leaving Pep Guardiola's side.
However, after just one full season with Al-Hilal, the Portugal international is set to make a return to Europe, having featured in only two league matches this season.
Barcelona is scheduled to face Racing de Santander in the Copa del Rey on Thursday, followed by a La Liga match against Real Sociedad on Sunday.
