Liverpool Poised to Sign Defender Giovanni Leoni from Parma
Liverpool is nearing the acquisition of 18-year-old defender Giovanni Leoni from Parma, with a transfer fee estimated at around £26 million.
The center-back has become a primary target for manager Arne Slot's squad and is expected to complete a move to Anfield soon.
Leoni, an Italy Under-19 international, began his career at Padova and had a brief stint at Sampdoria before joining Parma last summer.
In addition to Leoni, Liverpool is also in discussions with Crystal Palace regarding a potential transfer for England center-back Marc Guehi. Palace, the FA Cup winners, are reportedly seeking £40 million for their captain, who has only 12 months remaining on his contract; however, Liverpool is aiming to negotiate a lower fee.
This summer, Liverpool has already invested approximately £270 million on new signings, although they have recouped around £170 million through player sales.
