Motherwell Extends Unbeaten Streak with Win Over Livingston
Motherwell climbed to within six points of the Scottish Premiership summit after extending their unbeaten streak to eight games with a convincing three-goal victory against bottom-placed Livingston.
The hosts made seven changes to their starting lineup at Fir Park, but these adjustments did not hinder their momentum or attractive playing style. The first two goals were scored by players returning to the team.
Elliot Watt, recognized as Motherwell's standout player this season, opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a curling shot from the edge of the penalty area, beating goalkeeper Jerome Prior.
The victory was capped off when Regan Charles-Cook set up substitute left-back Emmanuel Longelo, who tapped in his fifth goal of the season at the back post.
Livingston managed only one shot on target throughout the match and remains without a league victory since early August, marking a dismal run of 13 matches. Additionally, they have not won in their last 17 visits to Fir Park in the Premiership.

This reflects the strong foundation that Askou is building at Fir Park. With the team positioned just six points off the top in December and only two league defeats this season, their style of play is both impressive and unfamiliar to their supporters.

Livingston manager David Martindale: "I didn’t see much difference in the game during the first half. The opening goal was good, but we shouldn’t have turned our backs on it. In the second half, I felt it was even again until we conceded a penalty. I haven’t reviewed it yet, but honestly, I’m not too concerned. After that, the game became challenging. I’ll say this now: Motherwell will finish in the top four. That’s not an excuse for us; they are an exceptionally well-drilled team, and I would be surprised if they don’t make the top four."
