Nico O'Reilly Receives First England Call-Up
Manchester City defender Nico O'Reilly has been called up to the England national team for the first time, following the withdrawal of Reece James due to injury.
Right-back Reece James sustained an injury during Chelsea's Premier League victory over Liverpool on Saturday.
O'Reilly, who has been promoted from the England Under-21 squad, will join the team for matches against Wales on Thursday, October 9, and Latvia on Tuesday, October 14.
At 20 years old, O'Reilly primarily plays as a left-back for Manchester City, leaving Djed Spence as the only recognized right-back in the squad selected by England manager Thomas Tuchel.
Having been with Manchester City since the age of eight, O'Reilly made 21 appearances and scored five goals last season as he established himself in the first team. He was also part of Pep Guardiola's squad during the Club World Cup this summer and has already made nine appearances for the club this season.
