Oliver Burke Shines with Hat-Trick in Union Berlin's Victory
Oliver Burke delivered an outstanding performance, scoring a hat-trick as Union Berlin triumphed in a thrilling seven-goal Bundesliga encounter against Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 28-year-old Scotland international opened the scoring for the visitors after Ilyas Ansah's initial goal, extending the lead to 2-0 in the 32nd minute.
Frankfurt responded just before half-time through Nathaniel Brown, but Burke quickly regained control for Union, netting two goals within four minutes in the second half.
Despite late goals from Can Uzun and Jonathan Burkardt for Frankfurt, Union managed to secure all three points in a tense finish.
Burke, who made his Scotland debut at 18 in 2016, has not been capped since a substitute appearance against Israel in 2020. He joined Union Berlin this summer after his contract with Werder Bremen expired and marked his arrival with this impressive hat-trick.
His first goal was a composed finish after breaking away from the Frankfurt defense, followed by a header at the back post and a clever chip that completed the first Bundesliga hat-trick by a Scottish player.
Following this match, Union Berlin sits 10th in the Bundesliga table with six points from four games, while Eintracht Frankfurt occupies the sixth position, also with six points.
