Paris St-Germain Secures Fourth Consecutive French Super Cup
Paris St-Germain (PSG) clinched their fourth consecutive French Super Cup title after a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser and a penalty shootout victory against Marseille in Kuwait.
The Champions League winners appeared to be on track for an easy win, having taken an early lead through a goal by Ousmane Dembele in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners.
However, Marseille made a late comeback, with Mason Greenwood converting a penalty and Willian Pacho inadvertently scoring an own goal to put them ahead.
In a thrilling conclusion, Goncalo Ramos equalised for PSG in the dying moments, forcing the match into a penalty shootout. PSG's goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier, made pivotal saves against Matt O'Reilly and Hamed Traore.
During the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue successfully converted their penalties, leading PSG to a 4-1 victory in the shootout.
As the record 14-time winners of the competition, PSG faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up, Marseille, after having secured both the league title and the French Cup. This latest triumph marks PSG's 12th Super Cup victory in the past 13 years.
