Rangers Aim for League and Cup Success Following Dominant Scottish Cup Victory
Danny Rohl has set his sights on achieving a league and cup double after Bojan Miovski's hat-trick propelled a revamped Rangers side to a commanding 5-0 victory over Annan Athletic in the Scottish Cup at Ibrox.
The North Macedonian striker opened the scoring, helping the hosts secure a 2-0 lead before Kieran Dowell added a third goal early in the second half.
Miovski completed his hat-trick with a penalty, and substitute Thelo Aasgaard capped off the win with a stunning free-kick.
Since taking over from Russell Martin, Rohl has led Rangers to third place in the league, trailing Celtic on goal difference and sitting six points behind leaders Hearts.
"I believe we can compete for two titles at the moment, and that's our goal," Rohl stated. "In the cup, fewer victories are required to reach the final, making it a great opportunity for us to push forward.
"The players are eager in the dressing room right now. The atmosphere after our recent 2-0 win against Aberdeen was fantastic, which I think made a significant statement."
Rohl also hinted that Rangers may not be finished with their January transfer activity, following the introduction of new signings Tochi Chukwuani, Andreas Skov Olsen, and Tuur Rommens to supporters at Ibrox.
All three players greeted fans prior to Friday's 5-0 Scottish Cup win, with midfielder Chukwuani making his debut off the bench.
"I am very pleased to have all three signings here early," Rohl told BBC Scotland. "There are still a few days left in the transfer window. Andreas Skov Olsen brings experience and adds a different profile on the right side with his left foot. We have a clear plan of what we want to achieve. However, the transfer market is unpredictable; it all comes down to timing. Let's see what more we can accomplish."
What Will Skov Olsen Bring?
New Rangers winger Skov Olsen has expressed his determination to make an impact, stating that fans can expect him to "go for it" as he aims to help the team lift trophies by the end of the season.
The Denmark international has joined Rangers on loan from Wolfsburg until the season's conclusion, with the club holding an option to make the transfer permanent in the summer.
At 26 years old, Skov Olsen has made only 10 appearances for the Bundesliga side since his summer transfer from Club Brugge, where he had a successful stint, scoring 49 goals and providing 30 assists in 124 matches. Skov Olsen expressed his eagerness to regain that form at Ibrox.
"I hope to contribute additional strength to the attack, scoring and creating chances for the team," he said. "Fans can expect me to make runs, both inside and outside, take shots, and create opportunities for my teammates. Even if I lose the ball, I will keep pushing forward. That's what they can expect from me – I will give it my all.
"It's an exciting time, but we need to focus on one game at a time, starting with our next match. Hopefully, by the end of the season, we will be lifting trophies."
Skov Olsen, who previously played for Nordsjaelland in Denmark and Bologna in Serie A, mentioned that he had spoken to several people about Rangers, including current players he knows from his time in Denmark.
"I know some guys from Nordsjaelland, including Oliver Antman, the new signing Tochi Chukwuani, and Dio Mohamed Diomande. It was great to reconnect with them after some years. I also had conversations with others who spoke highly of the club," he added.
