Rangers Forward Hamza Igamane Declines Substitution After Transfer Bid Rejected
Rangers forward Hamza Igamane declined to come on as a substitute during the club's 1-1 draw against St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday. This decision followed the rejection of a transfer bid for him earlier in the week, as stated by head coach Russell Martin.
Igamane participated in training leading up to the match and completed the warm-up in Paisley. However, when Martin attempted to substitute him in the second half to pursue a goal, Igamane informed the coach that he was injured.
Martin recounted the incident, saying, "I turned around to him at 60 minutes, and Hamza told me he's injured. I have to trust him, but we'll see."
The coach also disclosed that Rangers had rejected a bid for Igamane prior to the game, amid ongoing speculation about his potential departure from Glasgow this summer.
Martin remarked, "The issue is that the window is still open, and there are people with one eye out and one eye in. We had a bid this week for Hamza that we rejected. There are too many people uncertain, and we have to make sure we have people that want to be here. I'm calm about it."
