Real Madrid's lead at the top of La Liga has been reduced to five points following a draw against local rivals Rayo Vallecano.
The 36-time league champions were aiming to restore their seven-point advantage after Villarreal secured a 2-0 victory over Espanyol on Saturday, moving them into second place.
However, Vallecano, who had won three of their last five matches leading up to this encounter, proved to be resilient opponents.
Defender Raul Asencio came closest to scoring in the first half, but he failed to direct his unmarked header on target.
Former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold was introduced in the final stages of the match, but Madrid struggled to create significant chances, with Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham missing the team's best opportunities to score.
Barcelona has the chance to reduce Madrid's lead to three points later on Sunday when they face Celta Vigo at 20:00 GMT.
