Royston Drenthe's Manager Optimistic About Recovery After Stroke
Royston Drenthe's manager is optimistic about the former Real Madrid and Everton winger's recovery following a stroke.
The 38-year-old ex-Netherlands international was hospitalized in October.
Tjarda Zeggelink, representing Drenthe through FC de Rebellen, stated to BBC Sport: "Royston is currently in a crucial phase of his rehabilitation process.
"He is approaching his recovery with remarkable dedication and discipline, demonstrating the same commitment and motivation we have come to expect from him.
"While it is too early to provide a specific timeline, we are encouraged by Royston's attitude towards his rehabilitation.
"His positive mindset and professional approach are significantly contributing to his overall progress.
"We will continue to closely monitor his development and remain confident in a successful recovery."
Drenthe began his professional career with Feyenoord before joining Real Madrid in 2007, where he won the La Liga title the following year.
He later had a loan stint at Everton during the 2011-12 season and also played for Reading and Sheffield Wednesday, among others, before retiring in 2023.
