England to Face Andorra at Villa Park Due to Coldplay Concerts
England will play against Andorra at Villa Park in Birmingham on Saturday, as Coldplay's concerts are taking place at Wembley Stadium.
The Three Lions typically host their home matches at Wembley, but the ongoing concert series provides an opportunity to bring the fixture to different locations across the country.
Wembley is scheduled to host Coldplay performances on both Thursday and Saturday.
In recent years, both the men's and women's England teams have held select matches in various venues nationwide.
For instance, a friendly against Senegal in June was relocated to Nottingham Forest's City Ground due to overlapping concert schedules.
This match will mark England's first appearance at Aston Villa's home ground since February 2005, when the team played to a 0-0 draw with the Netherlands in a friendly match.
Historically, England has played nine matches at Villa Park, achieving four wins, four draws, and one loss.
Upon the confirmation of Villa Park as the venue earlier this year, England head coach Thomas Tuchel expressed enthusiasm, stating, "We are excited to play at Villa Park, another stadium rich in history. I know from my visits this season that it can create an outstanding atmosphere and is conveniently located near St. George's Park, which is beneficial for our preparations. We hope to generate a special atmosphere and create a memorable occasion for all fans."
Since 2018, England has also hosted matches at various stadiums including the City Ground, St James' Park, Old Trafford, and Molineux. Other venues such as Riverside Stadium, St Mary's, King Power Stadium, and Elland Road have also been part of the rotation.
All selected stadiums must meet UEFA regulations and have suitable training facilities nearby.
England's remaining home World Cup qualifiers in 2025 are set to take place at Wembley against Wales and Serbia.
