Wolves Risk Historic Low Points Finish in Premier League
With only two points earned from 14 matches this season, Wolverhampton Wanderers could be on track to challenge Derby County for the dubious record of the fewest points in a single Premier League season.
Derby County managed just 11 points from a possible 114 during the 2007-08 season, winning only one match, drawing eight, and suffering 29 losses. They scored 20 goals while conceding 89, finishing the season with a goal difference of -69 at Pride Park.
The other two teams relegated that season, Reading and Birmingham City, ended with 36 and 35 points, respectively, and goal differences of -25 and -16.
Derby averaged a mere 0.29 points per game, while Wolves are currently averaging just 0.14 points per match. If this trend continues, Wolves could finish the season with a total of only five points from their remaining 24 games.
According to calculations from Opta's supercomputer, Wolves have a 98.05% chance of finishing in the bottom three by the end of the season, with only a 1.41% probability of escaping to 17th place and a mere 0.41% chance of reaching 16th.

Does Being Bottom of the Table at Christmas Mean Relegation?
While being at the bottom of the table during the Christmas period is not ideal, it does not automatically guarantee relegation. Four Premier League teams, including Wolves, have successfully climbed out of the relegation zone by the end of the season.

Sunderland in 2013-14 - finished 14th
Leicester City in 2014-15 - finished 14th
