England Secures Seventh Consecutive Victory in World Cup Qualifying
England continued their perfect record in World Cup qualifying, achieving a seventh consecutive victory with a win over Serbia at Wembley Stadium.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel now has the opportunity to refine his strategies after the Three Lions secured their spot in next summer's tournament last month, with two games remaining in the qualifiers. The match unfolded in a subdued atmosphere on a rain-drenched evening.
Tuchel awarded a first senior cap to Manchester City's Nico O'Reilly, who started at left-back. However, it was one of England's seasoned players, Bukayo Saka, who opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a brilliantly placed left-footed volley past Serbian goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic.
Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers was chosen to play in the number 10 position ahead of Jude Bellingham and showcased impressive energy and skill before being substituted for his childhood friend after 65 minutes.
Phil Foden also entered the match as a substitute at the same time, and he linked up with Bellingham to assist another substitute, Eberechi Eze, who concluded the victory with a stunning curling shot in the final minute.
While Serbia posed some challenges in the second half, England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford managed to maintain his record of clean sheets, extending it to 10. Tuchel's team has now netted 20 goals without conceding in their successful qualifying campaign.
