Harry Kane Open to Contract Talks with Bayern Munich
Harry Kane has expressed that his desire to return to the Premier League has diminished and is open to discussions regarding a new contract with Bayern Munich.
Kane is currently in the second year of a four-year contract he signed after transferring from Tottenham Hotspur for £86.4 million in the summer of 2023.
Since joining Bayern, the 32-year-old striker has scored 103 goals in 106 matches, contributing to the team’s victory in the 2024-25 Bundesliga title, marking the first major trophy of his career.
Tottenham's manager, Thomas Frank, has indicated a desire for Kane to return to England, where he is just 48 goals shy of surpassing Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League scoring record of 260 goals.
However, Kane stated that his enthusiasm for a return to England has waned, and he is considering extending his tenure in Bavaria. “In terms of staying longer, I could definitely see that,” he remarked.
“I spoke openly a couple of weeks ago that I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet, but if they were to arise, I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation,” he added. Kane emphasized that his decision would depend on the team's performance over the next year. “Right now, I would say we are in a fantastic moment, and I am not thinking about anything else.”
Regarding the Premier League, Kane noted, “If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back. Now, having been there for a couple of years, I would probably say that interest has decreased a bit, but I wouldn’t rule it out entirely.”
Kane, the all-time leading scorer for both Tottenham and England, recently became the fastest player this century to score 100 goals for a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues, achieving this milestone in just 104 games for Bayern. Prior to winning the German title, a trophy had eluded him throughout his career.
Reflecting on his recent success, Kane admitted he was uncertain about how he would feel after ending his trophy drought, but he now believes it has fueled his ambition for further achievements. “Winning a title like I did last year could have led me to think, ‘OK, I’ve accomplished what I wanted,’ but it has instead motivated me to strive for more and improve,” he explained.
“I was curious about how I would react after winning my first trophy. There are still many more trophies I want to pursue, particularly bigger ones. But winning that first one has pushed me to elevate my performance, eat healthier, and dedicate more time in the gym to maximize my potential.”
