Jamie Vardy Set to Join Cremonese in Serie A
Former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is poised to travel to Italy to finalize a transfer to Serie A club Cremonese.
The 38-year-old is expected to sign a one-year contract, with an option for an additional year if the newly promoted team manages to avoid relegation.
Vardy is scheduled to fly to Italy on Sunday, where he will undergo a medical examination on Monday.
Cremonese is optimistic about securing the deal for Vardy, despite facing competition from Dutch club Feyenoord.
Since his contract with Leicester City expired in June, the former England international has been without a club. Vardy, who joined Leicester in 2012, is regarded as one of the club's all-time greats, having played a pivotal role in their Premier League title victory during the 2015-16 season.
Throughout his tenure at Leicester, he scored 200 goals in 500 appearances and contributed to the team's FA Cup triumph in 2021. Additionally, he netted seven goals in 26 matches for the England national team.
Cremonese has made a strong start to their Serie A campaign, winning both of their opening matches against Sassuolo and AC Milan since returning to the Italian top flight this summer.
