Lennon Miller Scores on Debut as Udinese Defeats Palermo in Coppa Italia
Scotland midfielder Lennon Miller made an impressive full debut for Udinese, scoring in their 2-1 victory over Palermo in the second round of the Coppa Italia.
The 19-year-old joined the Serie A club this summer from Motherwell for a reported fee of £4.75 million.
After making his first appearance as a substitute in a 3-0 loss to AC Milan on Saturday, Miller was given the opportunity to start against Palermo.
Nicolo Zaniolo, on loan from Galatasaray and who previously played for Aston Villa during the 2023-24 season, opened the scoring for Udinese. Miller then doubled the lead just before half-time, heading the ball into the net after Adam Buksa's close-range shot was parried by the goalkeeper.
Miller was substituted in the 70th minute, shortly before Patryk Peda scored a late consolation goal for Serie B side Palermo.
With this victory, Udinese advances to the last 16 of the tournament, where they will face Juventus.
