Liverpool Excludes Chiesa from Champions League Squad
Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa has been left out of Arne Slot's 22-man Champions League squad, with 17-year-old forward Rio Ngumoha earning a spot instead.
Chiesa has been a substitute in each of the Reds' first three Premier League matches but made a strong case for inclusion with a late goal against Bournemouth on the opening day of the season.
Despite his contributions, the Italy international has been surpassed by the promising teenager Ngumoha, who made an impressive claim for his place with a dramatic winning goal at Newcastle in the second match.
In the Champions League, clubs are permitted to submit a squad of up to 25 A-list players, along with an unlimited number of B-list players. At least eight spots in the A-list must be reserved for homegrown or 'locally trained' players.
