Liverpool's Attempt to Sign Marc Guehi Falls Through on Deadline Day
Liverpool's attempt to acquire Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi on transfer deadline day has been unsuccessful.
A deal was initially agreed upon after both clubs reached a compromise on a fee, which would have started at £35 million.
The 25-year-old defender was authorized to complete the necessary formalities for his transfer, including a medical examination in London on Monday, ahead of signing what was expected to be a long-term contract with the Premier League champions.
However, sources have now confirmed to BBC Sport that the transfer is no longer proceeding.
Crystal Palace declined to approve the transfer as they encountered challenges in securing a replacement, particularly after their target, Igor Julio, chose to join West Ham instead.
While Palace did sign Toulouse centre-back Jaydee Canvot on deadline day, they were aiming to have two replacements ready before allowing Guehi's departure.
