Manchester City Pursues Crystal Palace Captain Marc Guehi
Manchester City is emerging as a potential contender to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi this month.
According to BBC Sport, City is exploring the possibility of acquiring the England centre-back following injuries sustained by defenders Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias during the recent draw against Chelsea.
Additionally, England centre-back John Stones is currently sidelined due to injury.
City plans to assess the severity of Gvardiol and Dias's injuries before making a final decision regarding their interest in Guehi during the current transfer window.
However, sources indicate that City's interest in Guehi has intensified, suggesting that a move in January should not be ruled out.
The 25-year-old defender is set to become a free agent this summer, with expectations that he will leave Selhurst Park at the end of the season.
Nevertheless, the recent surge in interest from City could alter the trajectory of Guehi's career.
European clubs such as Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid have also shown interest in signing the defender on a free transfer.
Due to market regulations, Guehi is eligible to enter a pre-agreement with an overseas club starting this month.
Last summer, Guehi nearly joined Liverpool for a fee of £35 million, but Palace ultimately decided against the deal during the final hours of the transfer window.
Liverpool remains keen on Guehi, and it remains to be seen whether they will pursue a free transfer for the player this summer.
Both City and Liverpool are interested in acquiring Guehi on a free transfer at the end of the season.
It is understood that Crystal Palace would consider selling Guehi this month to prevent losing their captain for nothing at the end of the season.
