Middlesbrough to Appoint Kim Hellberg as Head Coach
Middlesbrough is poised to appoint Kim Hellberg as their new head coach.
The 37-year-old currently serves as head coach at Hammarby in Sweden, where he has led the team to two consecutive second-place finishes in the top division.
Hellberg was interviewed for the vacant position at Swansea City last week before meeting with Middlesbrough following Rob Edwards' departure to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
His appointment is contingent upon obtaining a work permit, and in the interim, Adi Viveash will continue to manage the team for their Championship match against Oxford United on Saturday.
Middlesbrough currently sits second in the league table, trailing Coventry City by five points.
Hellberg, who played in the lower leagues of Swedish football, has one year remaining on his contract with Hammarby.
He began his coaching career in the Swedish lower divisions with Kuddby IF, later moving to IF Sylvia before joining the coaching staff at top-tier club IFK Norrköping in 2020.
His first head coaching role in the Allsvenskan was with IFK Värnamo, where his impressive performance over two seasons led to his appointment at Hammarby.
