Newcastle Reopens Talks with Brentford for Yoane Wissa
Newcastle United has resumed negotiations with Brentford regarding a transfer for forward Yoane Wissa, just a day after the player appealed to the Bees to honor their commitment and allow him to leave before the transfer deadline.
Brentford has already rejected two offers for Wissa this summer, with the most recent bid amounting to £35 million guaranteed, plus an additional £5 million in performance-related add-ons.
This development follows Liverpool's agreement to pay a British transfer record fee of £125 million to acquire Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
Magpies manager Eddie Howe is keen to bolster his attacking options, even after securing a club-record signing of striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart on a six-year deal last week.
Wissa, 28, publicly expressed his desire to leave Brentford on Sunday, claiming that the club has been “unduly standing in his way” of a potential move to Newcastle.
