Yoane Wissa Urges Brentford to Honor Transfer Request
Striker Yoane Wissa has urged Brentford to "keep their word" and allow him to leave before the transfer deadline, claiming the club is "unduly standing in his way" of a move to Newcastle United.
With just two days remaining in the transfer window, the Democratic Republic of Congo international expressed his frustration over Brentford's refusal to sell him to Newcastle, who have had two offers turned down, the latest being £35 million guaranteed, plus an additional £5 million in add-ons.
Wissa has made it clear that he wishes to join St James' Park and has not participated in training or played with the first team this season.
Sources indicate that Brentford initially sought £40 million for Wissa, but the asking price has reportedly increased to around £60 million.
In a statement posted on social media on Sunday, Wissa remarked, "As the window comes to an end, the club has now significantly changed its position, going against what was communicated. This has left me in a difficult and frustrating position. The promise that I could leave this summer has not been fulfilled. It saddens me to have to write that, and I maintain total respect for the club and its fans."
BBC Sport has reached out to Brentford for comment.
