Nottingham Forest Parts Ways with Ange Postecoglou After Disappointing Start
Ange Postecoglou has been dismissed by Nottingham Forest following a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground.
The Australian's departure, just 39 days after his appointment on September 9, marks the shortest managerial tenure in Premier League history.
During his time at Forest, Postecoglou was unable to secure a victory in any of his eight matches, recording two draws and six losses across all competitions.
Under his leadership, Forest managed to earn only one point from five Premier League fixtures, leaving the team precariously positioned just one point above the relegation zone in 17th place.
A statement from Nottingham Forest confirmed, "The club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect." The statement concluded with, "The club will make no further comment at this time."
Postecoglou's exit means that Forest is now in search of their third manager this season, having previously sacked Nuno Espirito Santo just three matches into the campaign.
Marco Silva, the current manager of Fulham, is reportedly a top candidate for the position, alongside former Burnley and Everton boss Sean Dyche.
Postecoglou's short-lived tenure began with a 3-0 loss to Arsenal, followed by an early exit from the Carabao Cup at the hands of Swansea City. This was followed by draws against Burnley in the Premier League and Real Betis in the Europa League opener, before suffering a 3-2 defeat at home to Midtjylland, during which some Forest supporters chanted, "You're getting sacked in the morning" towards the former Celtic manager.
Further updates will follow.
