Rotherham Secures First Away Win of the Season Against Northampton
Josh Benson's stunning late free-kick propelled Rotherham to their first away victory of the season, overcoming a one-goal deficit to defeat Northampton at Sixfields.
Northampton took an early lead with a penalty from Sam Hoskins in the first half, marking his 100th goal for the club. However, Rotherham fought back in the second half, with Joe Rafferty equalizing before Benson secured the win.
Hoskins had an opportunity to score earlier in the match but was ruled marginally offside when he headed in a cross from Terry Taylor in the eighth minute. Rotherham, however, started the game strongly, with Shaun McWilliams narrowly missing the target and Martin Sherif misfiring from a promising position.
The breakthrough for Northampton came in the 26th minute when Zak Jules fouled Kamarai Swyer in the penalty area, allowing Hoskins to convert the penalty without hesitation.
After the halftime break, Sherif missed another chance for Northampton, but Rotherham maintained their pressure and found the equalizer with 19 minutes remaining. Rafferty scored at the back post after receiving a knockdown from Jordan Hugill.
With just three minutes left in the match, Rotherham completed their comeback when Benson delivered a magnificent curling free-kick into the net.
